We teach good and bad practices — removing spoiled nuts, regular picking from every tree and proper drying — so farmers earn more.
Good practice starts on the farm. We work with our farmers and aggregators on simple habits that keep quality — and prices — high:
• All spoiled cashew nuts should be removed by farmers and aggregators from the raw cashew nuts before sale.
• Regular picking: farmers pick cashew from every tree, often, so nuts do not lie on the ground and spoil.
• Dry the nuts well and store them in jute sacks in a clean, dry room.
Through our co-operative, inputs, machinery and equipment from NGOs, government and donors are shared fairly among smallholder farmers.
